| What cookies are | Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. They let the site remember your consent choices, keep the layout you chose, and count pageviews for the editorial team. This site uses only what is necessary or what you explicitly consent to. A cookie only stores what the website that set it can read; it cannot see other sites, other tabs or your device contents. That is why 'first-party' cookies (set by betbolts.uk itself) are usually preferred by privacy-focused publications over third-party cookies set by advertising networks — the scope is dramatically smaller. |
| Analytics | Plausible Analytics runs a first-party, anonymised pageview counter. It does not use third-party cookies, does not track individuals across sites, and does not send data outside the EU/UK. You can decline it in the banner and the site still works exactly the same way. Consent is remembered for 12 months, after which the banner asks again. Toggling analytics off deletes the _plausible cookie immediately and no new one is set until you re-consent. Plausible publishes its methodology on its own site (plausible.io/data-policy) and is a UK-based service — data never leaves the UK/EU cloud. We chose it precisely because it does not build cross-site profiles: aggregate pageviews are useful; individual tracking is not. |
| Third party cookies | Cloudflare Turnstile sets a short-lived cookie only when you submit the contact form, to distinguish humans from bots. No advertising or social-network trackers run on the site. |
| Which we use | The site uses three cookies in total. bb_consent (essential, 12 months) records your banner choice so we do not ask again on every page. _plausible (analytics, 24 hours) counts anonymised pageviews without a persistent identifier. cf_turnstile (essential, 30 minutes) fires only on the contact form to distinguish humans from bots. No advertising cookies, no cross-site trackers, no social-network beacons. |
| How to manage | Use the 'Cookie settings' link in the footer to change your consent at any time. Every mainstream browser also lets you delete stored cookies by domain — see the Privacy page for step-by-step instructions. On iOS Safari: Settings → Safari → Clear History and Website Data. On macOS Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data. On Chrome desktop: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data → See all site data → search 'betbolts.uk'. On Firefox: Preferences → Privacy & Security → Manage Data. Global browser settings (block all third-party cookies) do not affect betbolts.uk day-to-day because we do not use any third-party marketing cookies. Users who prefer maximum privacy can safely enable the strictest cookie block their browser offers without breaking the site. |
